Well, after a few hints from james, I feel I should indeed start this topic properly.

Basically Just blab about your track set-up, what youve kept up with round a track and what you think you could do to improve your times.

I'll start....

Currently able to beat my mates 197 round brunt, and keep up (if not pass) any STANDARD Focus RS I come across.

This is on 16" Speedline's with Toyo R888's (on loan). And lowered 35mm on eibach's. My car also has no rear seats and no rear interior. I also have my amplifier on a split-block for easy removal and my sub box is Ratchet-strapped to the rear of the boot for easy removal.

The weight saved doesn't seem to improve acceleration, but it does pitch into the corners better due to less weight up the top and doesnt seem to understeer atall, just gives you nice lift-off oversteer which is obviously well controllable.

Whats everyone else playing with?

Keep the idea's and comparisons coming, then we'll be an unstoppable force at the next ST/RS trackdays!

Get yourself some coilovers one day, Mike. You'll really see a difference through the corners. Immediately switching from driving ClareST's eibach springed ST to Ayesha's at Snetterton on thursday was like night and day.

I am tempted, but all my money is going towards my SC conversion. (or possible turbo.. email me back performance3000 damn you...)

Im sure one day i'll make the step.

What ones you reccomend? I know ford use the KW's, but i myself am tempted by Gaz or weitec.

Gazzard also do the old 'credit card over the phone' for trade staff. KW and weitec dont. So it'll save me a pretty penny!

fezST turbo,

a standard Fiesta ST is 0.8secs slower round the ford test track than the focus RS was. I know im only running 180bhp, but thats alot more torque in the right places than a standard ST, and being lowered does give me alot more corner-in and exit speeds.

So yes, I think he was....I didnt say it was easy mate, i only got past him twice the entire day, but he couldnt gain any ground.

Anyone else want me to explain that anymore? Im upto about 5times now. lol.

Thanks for the Vote on Gaz shocks though mate, seems to be the winner...

not sure what i was doing right but i managed to get round the Autotest track at Knockhill in 31.48sec that might not mean much to someone who hasn't been, but on the day it was 2 tenths of a sec slower than a sierra cossi and 1 tenth slower than the guy running it in a cupra FR. that was with just Eibachs and a milltek cat back, it's a really tight track only hair pins. and you don't realy get out of 1st gear! was pritty happy with that but... i will get the most imprtant lap times up in a few weeks. one's from the nurburgring!! with the 2.3L hopeing for under 10min!

I recommnd Gaz as well, KW Variant 1's are super duper in terms of quality and setup out the box but i liked the adjustabillity on tap from the Gaz kit

at the end of the day, you can have a top track set up but if you drive like a numpty you wont get the results!

i did a few laps on my own at Snetterton on the PF track evening last thursday, then had 20 minutes with a track instructor and it made a world of difference to me, my lines, i was told the correct gears to use and more importantly my confidence shot up

still, there were places where i now believe i could have been much faster, and i will now be saving for a proper brake and suspension set up after being constantly being out broken and out cornered by mike with his APs and bilsteins, on the track is where these mods come into play!

i dont care people were faster i enjoyed myself massively!!!

--------------------

i wanna know whats under the censored...im too stupid to make my own conclusions

i bought it then got faggoty about the legal issue so got a piper sports cat

cant beat KFC and BJs....its a good idea they come hand in hand...

Currently on my MR2 it's running 15'' wheels that are unbalanced and 4 super cheap incorrectly sized tyres lol, once I'm used to the car more I will be fitting them with R888s and probably fit paradas to the road wheels. Has a few track enhancements like the rubbish holes in the bumper for extra airflow to the radiator and a seperate oil cooler to keep temps down.

Eventually I'd like to strip away a fair amount of the trim and fit a decent bucket seat, ideally though I'd like to upgrade to driver 2.0 before doing too many things to it!
