This would be interesting to find out how many people go to the extra effort of covering up their cars identity ).gif

I never delete my plate. What's the point? If someone wanted to clone a plate, then they could use any one they see in the street. Plus, people will see my plates at meets - what am I supposed to do then?

Nah, CBA with the paranoia of deleting my plate everytime I post.

oh, and where's the "do one Tim you jobsworth" option for vote?

It isn't about plate cloning you nonce.

It's about how people go out of their way to brag about modifications, what they have installed etc and how much money they have spent on their car. It's like poetry to a thieving c***s ears ;.gif

Thieves aren't stupid, they will look round shows find out whats in what and then target it... Ford Fair is just too much of a co-incidence for me.

So yeh come suck my d**k little man.

I always delete my plate as I love my ST and would hate if it went missing.

How is a common car thief going to use your plate and find your address though? It's not like they can just type it into Google... I covered mine up before the private plate went on. Now i realized it's totally pointless.

Whats to say a "common car thief" wouldn't have access to such information? As I see it I do everything I can to protect all of my investments.

I didn't really want to get in a massive debate I was just intrigued into how many people had thought about it.

People, never ever show pictures of your number plates on the the internet.

Lots of people have access to the DVLA data base which gives out your home address.

Straight up !

No bullshat

I know because Ive seen it with my own eyes.

Ive traced a car back to its owners address within 12 hours.

You might think so what, but thats how the bas***ds steal your cars to order.

Goes like this
1) Get an order for a Fiesta ST, in say, blue
2) See Fiesta ST in blue, get number plate
3) Check the data base for an address.
4a) Steal the car.
4b) Fail to steal the car - move on to the next target.

Just one of the many ways in which you car could be stolen.

Dont let it happen to you !

Ada.

it is very easy for someone to steal a nice motor these days

for example ford fair

they follow said targeted car that they like from show to home address
there for they now have the location of the vehicle targeted and then carry out their criminal act at your expense

however the thing with the number plates is a good point also it is that easy to get this information of the dvla

you say that they are common thieves

I truly do not believe this and that the bastards out there have a hi tech ring and will target vehicles from another county

I mean once they have changed the car after stealing it they sell it for a sum of money alot less than book price made a few grand profit as their only expenses are time and fuel tracking the car

be careful gang take the precautions to preserve your pride and joy

They arnt dummies, they not much different to me and you.

Its a business, and a big one at that.

From what I hear, they earn over a grand a week each, cash in the hand, on average.

This is the point I was trying to make. You should do everything in your power to prevent it.
