I generally browse through ST's forsale on the net just to watch prices of them etc, and cant help but wondering if the prices of them have dropped alot in the last 4 months or so?

I bought mine for 8k back in april, 57 model ,climate, tech 18k miles for 8k from a ford dealer.
Im looking on ph right now and alot of st's that are around the same spec as mine ar going for 7.5 to under 7 now!

Cant help but think i should have waitied it out to get one a bit cheaper or did i pay to much for mine? Or am i completely wrong and the prices theyre at now are a decent price?

I still think there at a reasonable price, but they will drop due to the new model/ people wanting more economical cars and the fact that they are getting older.

i payed the same as you for an 07 on 11k on new years eve, i know that i've probably lost about 1-2k on it all ready by putting the miles up on it by 10k but its a car at the end of the day they're all ways going to depreciate in value its never an investment.

at least you've bought a car thats fun to drive, i get in mine every day since i've bought it grinning from ear to ear so it doesn't bother me that much about depreciation Posted Image

Yeah, my mate got offered £4.5K for his 25k ST500! No one wants them because young people can't afford to run them and the older people that can afford to run them want a more practical or better car than the fiesta ST.

Plus with the advent of fast diesels these days returning similar performance at twice the economy, I couldn't even justify buying a fiesta ST myself!

I work in Used car sales, the wee Fiesta is droppinng between £125 and £325 every month.....

Of course, that's trade value which a dealer would give you, but it's still a bloody big dent each month!

I've had my 07 plate ST up for £6500 and have had little interest in it.
I've just dropped the price to £6350 today in the hope of picking up a quick sale.

And that's on an absolutely immaculate example as well. Looking around the net there is a huge variation in quality of ST's that are for sale.

Ive only had mine since June and since then the prices have dropped massively.

At the time i think mine was very good for the money and the mileage/fact there wasnt a mark on it.

I Paid £6700 for a 56 white on 28Kish miles and although there were cheaper examples, they were all covered in marks and stonechips.

Thought i got a decent price until about 3 weeks ago when i looked on PHeads. :(

All "normal" cars (forget ferraris etc etc ) will go through this and eventually reach "banger" stage before people then want a bit of nostalgia and go looking for the car they had years ago.

I've witnessed and experienced this first hand with the XR2 mk2. I bought a nearly new E reg in Jan 88 for £6795 and lost a grand on it 11 months later as I needed a mortgage deposit. I vowed to buy another and in Dec 92 I bought a C reg Xr2 with 60K on the clock for £2495. Gradually I watched theses cars get older and rattier and cheaper...so cheap that I bought 2 in one week for £25 and £75. I bought several others for around the £150 mark to break for spares. I even killed 2 supersports (someone shoot me !!!!!!!!!!!!!) and 3 mk1 XR2's because they were so cheap and worth more as spares.

The last Xr2 mk2 I bought for spares as a project donor car cost me nearly £300 on Ebay as I had to fight off a "banger racer" to win it. Now look at whats happened to all these old banger fiesta XR/supersports that have survived and are in good nick...they've shot up in value. I sold a Fordfair concours winning mk2 Xr2 last year for £3000, and promptly bought a 91 H reg XR2i with just 17K on the clock for the same money. That's now a Fordfair 2010 concours champ and only going to go up in value.

I also still have the C reg XR2 I bought in 92 - thats been concours since 96 and still only done 86K.

New cars will go down in value...hit rock bottom.... and then start to appreciate again with the nostalgia/rarity factor.

I never expected it to happen to an XR2 as they were "new" cars in my day. I'm hoping it'll happen with the Fiesta ST one day as the wife now has one, and one day I'll be getting one to concours.

Keep your car 20 years........it'll be a classic, especially if any newer fiestas look as bad as the mk7 peugeout lookalike !!!!!!!!

Fiesta ST prices have dropped by a ridiculous amount!!!
A few weeks back i p/x my ST for a Zetec S MK6 which is an 06 plate and my ST was 56 and i had to give the man £500 on top.
I work for a car dealer and a car dealer would offer you between £5000 - £5500 for a 2006 ST. I found this out as i went through another dealer to p/x my car and i wanted to know what they should be offering me 1st. I was really disappointed when i found out :(
