Hi everyone

I recently noticed a few members mentioning that the classified service needed improving due to having out of date items listed and generally looking very cluttered.

I've started removing items that I can see marked as SOLD and anything that is over 6 months old. I've removed loads of stuff and it's already looking a lot less over facing and more user friendly :)

I've also removed a massive amount of WANTED topics that are listed in the Parts For Sale section. Too many to contact you all sorry, consider this your notification :p I noticed that most of the things people 'Wanted' are currently for sale. They may have chosen not to bother looking or possibly been over faced by all the out of date adverts. It should be much easier to see what you're looking for now :)
Please, in future list your Wanted topics in the Wanted section.

Please can everyone do their bit to help me/us out with keeping things up to date? Please can everyone who lists their items edit them when a change in status happens? If a sale has been agreed, then please mark it as Provisionally Sold. When a sale is completed and you want the advert removing, please mark it as SOLD. You can also add Please Delete or anything that assists the Staff with keeping it all current.

Please note that when 'editing' your listing, there is an option just below the post that says 'Use Full Editor'. Selecting that allows you to edit the Topic Title/Header/Sub Title. You can change that meaning that 'At a glance' we can see what needs removing.

I've removed the very old listings, more will be removed until things that are only a month or two old will remain. If you have an old listing that is still valid, then please copy and paste a new version so that people can see it's still for sale.

A Massive thankyou to everyone who has updated their topics/headers to show sale status, We do notice and appreciate your efforts, Good Job people

Please can everyone who has adverts running now, mark them up as SOLD if they're sold?

Opinions are welcome as always, please let us know what you think, is it looking better, easier to use?

My personal opinion is that the less clutter there is, the better chance people have of making a sale :)

Thanks Guys

Steve

Excellent work
I think if sellers update a thread they should have to add to the optional titles filed when the change was made, like my thread:

for example

Really appreciate your efforts guys
It's taking longer than I thought :p I can see some of you have updated your threads, I've removed some already.

Hopefully anyone selling will have a much improved chance of selling their stuff.

I can tell you guys, selling stuff on this site really works, I've seen SOLD SOLD SOLD everywhere

I've removed all the oldest stuff and everything that I can see marked as sold. It's much less cluttered now.

I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who is selling, are you getting more people interested in your items? Any and all feedback welcome.

Please can everyone mark their items up as Sold, if and when they're sold and spread the word?
I want to keep on top of it now it's getting straight :yep:

Big thanks to everyone who is helping/complying, your efforts are noted and appreciated

Steve

Maybe a button could be incorporated somehow in the thread so you click it and it automatically goes to sold

I know what you mean Dave, but people can't be bothered to go on their advert and edit it to sold, so I doubt they'd bother to press a sold button :nope:

I'm hoping that now there's less old adverts, people with remaining adverts will have more PM's and then make the effort to edit to sold so I can keep it all clear and fresh :p

Good job Steve  I personally preferred the old classified section where you could have one thread and list all your items for sale then other members could reply within the same thread, instead of having it closed like it is nowadays! This would save making your message box full up and a much easy way to sell items within the forum. I know a few other people agree with me as I've spoken about this with other members in the past.

I think the opposite Steve, more people would use a button I would have thought, less hassle than editing your advert which I bet some people dont even know how to do

Good job steve for cleaning it up. It was a rite pain wen you see something for sale and email them and its then sold!!

I agree with post above about replying to adverts, is it possible?

Or are we able to delete our own posts once its sold?

Gaz, in your case, yeah it's a big job, but for buyers to just look for a specific item, it's much easier the way it is now mate  I can pass on the information for future mate, but it's not up to me how things work, I'm just trying to make what we have work as best as possible :)

Chris, that's why I gave as much information and instructrion in the first post to explain how people can edit their posts, people can always just PM me or another Staff Member if they can't figure it out and we'll delete/edit/remove/move etc :) Loads of adverts were edited after I posted this, so it either jogged people's memory to edit or helped them and I was able to tidy up :)

Matt, yeah I know what you mean, the amount of parts I have spotted for you and Mike, only to be PM'd back by you saying they're sold :nope: Hopefully that will now stop happening.

Cheers guys

Why don't you set a time limit on the ads? Like an auction site, give them three weeks or something which should be plenty of time. If the item doesn't sell then it can expire and be removed/remove automatically with a notification to the seller.

If it does sell and isn't removed accordingly then give it won't be there any longer than three weeks anyway. I don't know how do'able that is to set up but it means the classifieds should basically manage itself...

:)
