Anyone done a 6 speed really looking into this my car is 200 spec and the ratios are just not cutting it with the Ib5 plus its probably not worth getting the Ib5 ratios changed along with an lsd plus the mtx75 conversion are a fair wedge too

Ive heard the st250 box can be used (MMT6) any other info obviously Ill need a linkage shafts mounts etc

Thanks for taking the time to read

For some reason on the thread posted above I can view it due to the administrator
You'd have to pay the (bargain) subscription fee to see threads in the other areas.

If you mean the gear swap thread the process was essentially swapping 5th with the box still in the car. Remove the battery and tray, remove n/s axle, gear cover off and remove 5th with a gear puller and swap it with the 5th out of a 1.4 Fiesta gearbox.

The cover on mine leaked after I had the diff done and it wasn't sealed properly, which was messy! So make sure its sealed well afterwards

If you think you're using too much fuel on the motorway, it can make a pretty big difference just dropping the speed to 65mph, easier said than done though!

@marvst Ive got a 200 spec myself but hate the short 5th gear thats all hence why I asked for a 6 speed haha
So you've not poured money into power mods, mearly spilt haha.
I'd imagine you'd lose a reasonable amount of power moving the 6 speed.
Only way you'll ever know is to do it.

@Marv_st Ive spent a decent amount but I know what youre saying its a drop in the ocean compared to fully forged with head work and a turbo/supercharger I wouldnt want to pour money at it just yet gotta get my other cars finished first
You've spent about the same as most other mk6 owners on here. Tell me about it. I just finished rebuilding my audi A3 1.8tfsi. 2k in parts later and she's done would dread to imagine the cost if I paid for labour. Then I have a mk1 TT to get rid of.

But we're getting off topic. I'd take @Driftingforlife's experience as you dodging a very expensive bullet.
