I'm leaning towards the Wavetrac for track use (it can still lock when unloaded), but interested to know about how other characteristics between the differentials differ?

If you are going to do hardcore track day use then you want one that's more aggressive.
The Quaife style is good, but not a hardcore track product.
To give you an example my mk6 ST race car has a KAAZ plated diff and we broke the gearbox in quali, so had to put the spare gearbox in with a quaife.
We were a good second per lap slower around Brands Hatch.
If you just want to have fun, do some track time and use the car on the road then the Quaife is fine, but personally out of the two mentioned I'd go for the wavetrac.
If you are looking at timing then you want something more aggressive. But I really wouldn't want to run that on the road.
