Slightly random question I know.
Back in the days of CVHs and Zetecs, you could swap gearboxes around pretty easily, as most Ford engines had the same gearbox bolt pattern. That started to change with the introduction of the Zetec-SE engines in the mid-90s, but is there any cross-compatibility nowadays? I assume the 1.6-litre EcoBoost uses the same bolt pattern as other Zetec-SE engines, as I believe it's based on the older 1.6 unit?
I'm thinking about a future project, and the MTX75 would meet a lot of ratio-related needs for me, but I wasn't sure if I might be able to bolt one from a MK3 Mondeo 2.0-litre Duratec onto the 1.6, or even 1.0-litre EcoBoost.
I assumed the bolt patterns might be different, but wondered if anyone had any experience?
