A mate of mine has a black ST on a 57 plate (the Irish bloke a few of you met before FITP), he had to top up the oil today and it's now blowing out clouds of blue grey smoke. He's asked me to ask you lot for help so any ideas....?

if he put to much oil in the engine then it might have some problem It is imperative to check the level and set it to normal otherwise he will damage the engine ( to much oil pressure ).
As Roy has said, make sure he checks the oil on level ground. The dipstick mark is so sensitive to any changes in level, that he must make sure its dead level. If he's put too much in, just drain a bit off from the sump plug.
Too much oil is just as bad as having too little oil.
I did this once in my dads old 1.5td corsa, thought the level was low and put 1L in without checking it lol. Next morning when im driving down the M4 im coating the whole motorway in a thick cloud of smoke
Then i get to a hill, it starts struggling and the car redlines itself? Needless to say, i crapped myself
Got it to work, checked the dipstick and theres oil half way up it
i swear them 1.5 corsas dont die!!! exs dad had 1 on 220k, had a head on crash n still bloody lived!
