Hi all,

I've pretty much done everything I want to do to my Edition, with the exception of brakes. I've got some Goodridge braided hoses ready to go on, but don't know whether to go Mountune discs and uprated pads (made by EBC I think?!), wait for the big brake kit from them or go to another manufacturer (Revo maybe)... But what have you all done?

very interesting thread as am so disappointed form stock brakes of my mk8.5! terrible pads....
here in greece, ford offers TAROX as an upgrade. they offer both big brake kit 6pot and stock upgrade kit discs and pads + hoses

i am thinking the stock upgrade kit as the big brake kit doesnt fit in my rims (17" st2) and its too damn expensive (2500e only the kit)

Yes I agree the standard brakes are the weak point. I work for a vehicle manufacturer and a friend/colleague who's a brakes test and dev engineer also had an ST, always moaned that the brakes were a let down. He was always a bit concerned that a BBK might unbalance the car a little.

hey guys, do Mountune have a BBK in the works then?

It would be nice to have something that works behind standard wheels (17's or 18's) without spacers.

I have only just got a mk8 and was surprised to see a lack of options. Just a bigger disc kit with standard callipers would be nice.

Ford performance offers the Tarox 300 mm Big Brake Kit that to my understanding fits with both 17" and 18" wheels. But have not seen any comments /reviews about the brakes at all:

Trying to understand the application note TÜV-Approval if there is a need for spacers but I'm not sure how to understand the German text.
TÜV-Approval/Part Assessment

Update from the product page the following statement can be found regarding the TAROX compatibility:
Fiesta 01/2022 - ST, not compatible with wheel finis 2238246
Fiesta 07/2017 – 12/2021 ST, not compatible with wheel finis 2238246

The wheel finis 2238246 the following

My current brake mods are simply the Mountune fast road brake pads used with standard brakes and rotors

interesting stuff.

Tarox sent me a template to print off and try inside my wheel. So i will get round to that at some point.

Assuming all fits.... its just the price tag to overcome :ROFLMAO:
Yes indeed. I'm not 100 % convinced that the tarox brake fits without spacers. I do have the Performance Edition 18" wheels (and still the original ST-3 18" wheels) for summer tyres. For winter tyres I have the 17" ST rim.
It would be great if the brakes would fit without spacers on both 17" and 18" rims that I have.

Would you be able to share the brake template?
Cheers

Thank you for the templates! Much appreciated. I can check the 18" summer wheels as they are now stored for winter. While the 17" winter wheels are now in use. I hope that I have time to check during weekend.

Brembo calipers from Renault sport, st170 discs is a decent option. Cheap consumables then rather than some one off bbk where discs and pads can be a fortune.
Good points! Sourcing the parts in good conditions can be a problem. But in case you can source them easily and install them that is surely a good option.

PS
I have not had the possibility to print out the template and test with my wheels if it works.

You will need a bracket. I'm not sure of any bbk that wouldn't?

I bought new calipers from Poland two years ago, st170 discs, custom bracket and ferodo pads.
