Hello. I'm after some help/advise on an issue i have with my fiesta ST.
I own a 14 plate fiesta ST3. On Tuesday driving home i was at traffic lights when i had smoke coming from my bonnet. I pulled over immediately (4 meters) opened my bonnet and called 999 thinking my car was about to go up in flames! After about 10 minutes the smoke calmed down so i was advised to call my breakdown company (RAC)
I looked under my car to see a lot of fluid underneath. Anyway... turns out my engine coolant pipe snapped! Losing my engine coolant, i didnt move or turn the car on. The RAC came out, found the broken pipe and did a repair. I was told to get my car down to my garage the next morning which i did. This is when they checked my head gasket to find that i now need a new one! 2 tests were carried out, showing green meaning, bad news.
I headed down to ford today as although my warranty just ended, it is not reasonable for this pipe to snap. And also seems have since changed the pipes to rubber ones due to a known issue that the plastic pipes are brittle and can snap in the cold weather!!
Not that i'm surprised, but ford have said because the warranty is over and i've had said pipe repaired (though still having the damaged one) there is nothing they can do, other than contact the customer relations unit.
I will log a complaint and take it to the FOS if needed, but has anyone experienced this on such a young car and low mileage (40000)??
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
