Hi All,

I was driving along about a week ago and my aircon recirc button fell off.
A visit to Ford and a quoted £550, put me off until I found this on ebay :
Audio equipment Gas Gadget Auto part Electric blue

For a massive £4.99 + postage (y)

But on checking my car ( pre face lift ) the panels are different

Motor vehicle Steering part Vehicle Car Automotive design

I dont want to go through all the grief of stripping out the centre dash to find my new heater controls don't fit.

Please advise ( HELP)
Thx

I can only assume the panel you've bought must be for a facelift which has a slightly different dash to yours.

I wonder if you'd be able to just use the button or is it all one unit?

Hi Jimmy,
IT is one unit, ( hence the price from Ford )
Motor vehicle Audio equipment Gas Home appliance Video game accessory

All the switch gear looks identical to the ones on my pre face lift, so I'm hoping it will fit.

Does anyone know if theres a tutorial on this forum of how to take the centre consol cover off ??

Thx

No way to know until you start pulling things apart. If I was Ford I'd try to save money by reusing as many parts as possible between facelifts. When I tried replacing the same ***** in a Mk4 Polo I discovered that the ***** could be interchanged.

Hi Sethorion,

Yeah, All manufacturers do doggy things when introducing "facelifts" bits look the same but when you try to interchange them they don;t fit.
I was hoping someone had done the repair before - lol
Looks like its rip dashboard out and find out.

Thx

My recirc button is broke too, I've bodged a way around it by having a toggle switch piggybacked off the fuse box so I turn the ac on and off with that instead

Could you not cut the existing face plate to suit the new one you bought
Nah, my bad.
Although the faceplates of the MK6 and MK6 facelift are different the aircon control unit behind appear the same, we will find out when I rip the centre consol out - lol :D
