Morning All,
Just wondered if you guys have started to use E10 yet and if suffering any ill effects with this fuel.

For now I tend to use Super Unleaded Premium.
Thanks

It should run fine, I used it when travelling on the continent - only noticeable difference was the car was more willing to pop and bang on overrun.

Lovely thanks for the insight.

Just trying to build up a bit more info before i start using it.

The 180 boys wont have an issue as a much newer car.
Thanks

Esso has E0 - if you really hate Ethanol.

Runs fine on E10.

My 146k intake valves haven't got any build up on carbon on them.

@jase_llan it does pop a bit more, so sort of eco friendly and sounds better! Win/win?

Its not eco friendly, it takes more E10 fuel to produce the same power. So your weekly fuel bill goes up.

My daily is a diesel so this E10 vs E5 predicament isn't an issue for me thankfully.

thanks Gents appreciate the actual real life experience of the fuel.
I am currently using E5 Super but that bugger is like 1.55 now even if we go with E10 we still paying through the nose compared to normal unleaded.
I get the feeling petrol stations have used this as an excuse to really push prices up.
Thanks again

Lol, yes less MPG I do get it, aka sort of eco friendly as stated hence the process of the beginning with less fossil fuel; drilled, refined and used. Aswell it takes more energy/money to grow the crops.

You think it would come out cheaper, but no. Paying £1.43 per L from Esso is high, only going to get higher!

What's the daily you drive Marv?

Just imagine that, the government dropping the prices on fuel duty for the general publics gain.
Personally I use tesco momentum which my local in Kent is 1.40pL. You can't argue with that price.
My daily is a work van, and my run around (baby wagon) is a purple Ford fusion 1.6tdci. Which is seeing circa 70mpg in.
I know what you're thinking... "a fusion? Are you disabled?", I am not, but I have an abundance of spare mk6 fiesta handling mods laying around and the fusion uses the same chassis as the fiesta.

Hi stjoe,

I've used E10 a couple of times and my prefacelift runs fine on it ( round town normal driving ) I'm getting about 260 to the tank. I've only had the car about 4/5 month now and was using E5 which gave about the same mpg ish. Filled up with super unleaded the other day and tbh couldn't really feel any difference.
I was concerned that E10 would rot my exhaust so that justified the £1k for a full Milteck SS system

260 miles isn't enough for the car to fully adjust to super. After 2 or 3 tanks you'll notice the difference. Nothing massive, but will get slightly better MPG and throttle response.

Should be fine on standard map, I wouldn't worry.
Only reason I will be avoiding it is with the map I have the engine runs like complete crap on lower octane fuels and makes the sound of a diesel - i.e. it's not happy at all! I have no idea why it does this.. but on 99 it runs sweet. (I sometimes think it sounds like a MK2 Escort on a rally stage, although that's probably just in my head 🙃)

Nah, youve lost me now, ( I'm not saying your wrong, it just dont make sense) Why would it take 2 or 3 tanks, surely if your running the same set up and the only thing you change is the fuel, the response should be pretty much immediate ??
I'm really interested cause it just dont make sense

I'm not sure either. I know the fuel trim (or whatever it's called) takes a while to adjust. I don't think it's as long as 2 or 3 tanks though although there will still be old fuel in the tank so each time you fill the percentage of old fuel will decrease until after a while it will be practically all E10
