Additional Update:

Previously, the car would lurch quite badly if I did anything but the most gentle twinkle-toed gear change.

It turns out that the rubber of the old mount had a tear from front to back, about 6mm in height. To look at it, you wouldn't think the impact would be that much but evidently it was, because now everything is fixed! It feels so tight to change now and makes me wonder if its the new thicker 8.5 mount or just a 'not broken' mount.

Did you fit it using a set of ramps?

Of course not, at least not in Belgium, cause it's OEM

Just had a question, would you have to declare the 8.5 mount on insurance? Considering you are changing the part that came from factory so to speak, similar to an aftermarket one.
I can only speak for myself, but I haven't and nor will I. It is a Ford factory part for this generation of Fiesta. The 8.5 is a facelift only, and is considered the same generation by the insurers. When a company performs a revision on parts, for whatever reason, does that count as a modification? If Ford was to recall my car and replace a component with an uprated factory item, would that be a modification?

Ford now use that part as a stock factory component on the MY21 8th Gens and the old part is now defunct. In fact, the change in design shows that Ford has had multiple complaints / issues and is well aware that the old part is sub-par, even for factory standard, hence the change.

I'm simply changing to a 'fit for purpose' OEM replacement designed for the same model and same generation of my car.

On my Focus II, I replaced all of the engine mounts by OEM spec parts, never had a problem.

I only think if u replace them with other colored bushings like those of Mountune and such, u better tell them, cause they definately gonna see it

Thanks for the responses, thought I would get an answer before I go ahead and order the part. Cause trying to explain mods to insurance companies is a bit, shall we say difficult most of the time.

Hey guys and gals,

Apologies for bringing up an old thread. Just been to my local dealer for the part. This situation just went from bad to worse. They ordered the original part not the “new” 8.5 mount, if I wanted the original I would have gone through the warranty to replace it. They then say that the 8.5 mount is on back order for a while. Get this, here’s the kicker, they then go on to say that this would in-validate warranty on any mk8, due to the fact the part is chassis specific. I argued how could that be considering it’s an original oem part that they use on the new facelift instead, they just stared like pigeons and said “It just invalidates warranty”. They also recommended the Mountune one as an alternative that WOULD NOT invalidate warranty. I laughed and said there is no way that does not in-validate warranty as none of the Mountune parts for the mk8 are ford endorsed anymore, they just looked at me and said “oh”…………..end of conversation. So just a warning for people that are looking to do this or just about to, be careful of them wriggling out of warranty claims, if that time ever comes round.

They’ll only be able to wiggle out of warranty claims for that specific part.. but as it’s Ford OEM now due to being updated there should be no come back. Whoever you spoke to clearly doesn’t have a clue about that if they mentioned Mountune to you 🤷🏻‍♂️ Wouldn't stress over it

I tried to explain it all to them, they just stared like pigeons and gave me the same answer as in my previous post. Apparently they talked to “ford warranty“ about it and they gave them the same answer. To be honest, think it was more of a conversation between the service manager and the tech.
