Mountune & ZERONINE DESIGN

I wrote to them as I am interested in one of the intakes.

They replied very promptly and reading between the lines, it sounds like they are the OEM of many of Mountune's products. Mountune then simply rebrand them for sale.

I would guess whatever exclusivity deal existed for distribution has now expired and they've decided to go direct to consumer.

Seems completely legit and the same good quality you'd expect from Mountune. Apparently Zeronine are having an open day soon, if you want to check it out in person!

The puzzling thing to my mind is that you would think that Mountune have invested time and effort into researching these products. For example with an air intake you would expect that they have developed the design using a flowbench to come up with a design with minimum pressure drop etc. Same applies to any of the induction system components. Like this -

So you would think there was some intellectual property covering these things, preventing someone from selling identical components, even if they are the OEM 🤷‍♀️
If I had to guess, Mountune probably did work with Zeronine and assisted in the design and road testing etc... Whereas Zeronine appears to have the engineering gear to test the science behind it.

I would assume that the products may have been a joint venture, with Mountune having an exclusivity period to sell them.

From their email, it sounds like they do work for a lot of other brands, as the OEM.

I wonder if we'll see a spate of "new" Mountune products released?
It's a bit suspicious that multiple are now releasing the same products under the guise of new / existing businesses and they're just not badged as Mountune.

Really surprising though, it was clear for a very long time that anything badged Mountune would sell, so their lack of stock levels has always been a surprise to me.
Mountune was just white labelling other peoples products and seemingly paying for exclusivity. They seem to have stopped that now, hence the OEMS are now selling the products under their own name.
