...And yes, I also wish more people would treat their cars with mechanical sympathy so that it wouldn't be scary to buy one or two year old 15000 or 25000 kilometres vehicles because of the negligence and abuse they could have endured.
That is precisely why I was at pains to press the dealerships about who owned the ones I looked at prior to their sale and whether they were on PCP or not.

It makes a fundamental difference to how you treat things if you are buying them for the long term or (IMHO) 'renting' them.

Thankfully my one's dealership was negligent enough of data protection regulations to leave old receipts in the glove box with the previous owners home address thereon...

A quick trip down the road gained me the assurances I needed. The mature individual had bought it outright, only sold it back because it was a luxury "toy" and he was made redundant. Also as he was washing a car on his drive when I called I could see his immaculate and ordered garden and the garage up the drive behind him.

Tidy and ordered garage = tidy and ordered mind. Tidy and ordered mind = tidy and ordered car care ✅

You don't just 'get lucky' finding a good car, the harder you work to find them the 'luckier' you get 😉

(Peacemaker mode engaged 👍🏻)

I'd assumed, perhaps wrongly, that everyone was aware what the letters IMHO meant? 🤔

It was placed in the post, bracketed, precicely because, and in recognition of, other opinions being available on the subject.

If I'd said ALL PCP's are ragged from mile one the over defensiveness would perhaps be justified, because that would be wrong.

But I didn't did I. Its a law of averages thing... on balance, across the board, there's a higher chance of an incremental drop in care for something you don't intend to keep over something you intend to live with forever.

I don't recognise that as being some sort of whackjob left field hypothesis. Its logical. You, me, we're all more likely to act differently when we never see the longer term consequence of our actions/inactions.

Its not unique to cars either... literally anything. Buy a wedding suit and you'll take good care of it, hire one and you won't bother with the napkin during the meal and you'll be '**** dropping' with the best of 'em on the dance floor later on 🤘🏻

If you didn't rag your cars from mile one guys (the heart of the OP's topic before accusations of straying off topic get thrown about) then bravo... but it really shouldn't bother you so if its brought up.

There is an alternative to effectively telling someone to 'shut up'... if it doesn't apply to you, just ignore it 🤷🏻

But if you're really that upset about it the site even has a function to help. Please, if this honestly held personal opinion of mine is so offensive... press the ignore function and ignore me 👍🏻

If you're not going to do that then just tell me you have a different opinion, that's fine, that's how discussion works. Just don't ever tell someone to stop having or expressing an opinion, that'll never work in a free speech democracy, especially when its entirely on topic for this thread.

Peace out ❤

Would that not be because the papers you have are just the 'supplementary ammendment' sheets... ie the additional stuff not covered in the full online manual?

I seem to recall new owners before saying they had a folder with just a few poxy sheets in it.
