225s seem to be the better option for most based on the cost of them vs. 205 from what I’ve seen from the 50 people asking a day in various facebook groups.

I’d much rather pay the extra and get 205s. Only way I’ll change size from standard is when (if) I fit my ST200 alloys.

50 a day??

You must be missing the other 1950 posts a day about tyres.

Just ordered pair for PS4 DT1 XL from Costco £300 fully fitted - 205/40/18, they said the standard PS4 are being discontinued and instead the DT1 is what they will be selling from now.

It's like a 'posh' version of average joe's classic: What, 90% of new car owners who are not really 'into' cars go to their tyre joint after their 14K miles, and get them to stick on cheapo ditch finders. In just my street for eg, literally every newish car which has had a tyre change, got ditch finders of brands even I've never heard of, and I'm kind of 'into' tyres.
Anyway, the changing tyre size reminds me of a 'posh' version of this. Of course the enthusiast isn't going to put ditch finders on their car, but the amount of forums posts (world wide) which got poster's eyes popping out of their head at tyre replacement time, and the realisation that if they change the tyre size (slightly), it often results in 'saving a few quid a corner'. I don't see too many changing tyre size as the alternative is more expensive though lol
.....and, as remarked prior, all this after managing to spend £££thousands and thousands and thousands of pounds on a car in the first place, or, more likely, paying hundreds of pounds, stuffed full of eye watering APR interest month in, month out, month in, month out, month in, month out, month in, month out, month in , month out, month in,month out on their fiance 'deal'.
i wonder if they all inform their insurance company of the tyre size change too

0% apr here lol and insurance know about all my modifications :)

14,000

changed the fronts before at 8k and did a tire rotation.
Ahh nightmare, might be closer to tyres now than I want to be if you changed at 8k 😭

Not sure what the big deal on here is either of how people source their cars whether that’s an outright buy, or whether they finance it monthly.

Whatever works for you works for you, whatever works for everyone else works for them. Stop making such a fuss over things that don’t affect you in the slightest 🙃

Been on a road trip and have my fun with the car which is probably the reason i had to change so soon, plan on only having the car for another 8 months anyways as done too many miles

No, people have never opted not to fit the OEM Potenzas that came on the Mk7 for more expensive PS3/4/5's, Eagle F1's or Conti PC's... never seen that on here 🤥
A key two words used prior were 'often results' [in them being cheaper]. 'Often results' are quite key words. It means often, but not always.
Still a poll might be good to see who changed, say, from PS4 OEM tyre size to PS4 'new' tyre size....and paid more. {or any other same brand tyre} :)

I'm in need of tyres to replace my 4 and a half year old Super Sports and as much as I would love to buy the 225's at a much cheaper price against the 205's, I've ordered the PS5 205's (which are on backorder) as I want to go like-for-like and I'm also lowered on Eibach Redline Pro's springs too and DON'T want to risk any form of rubbing and scraping.......alongside that, my local tyre fitter WON'T fit 225's to my car as that isn't the standard fitment.

Yeah, I'll be sticking to 205s.

Car has just been fully serviced, it was detailed and coated inside & out after I bought it last summer, 2020 plate (December 2020) ST Edition and relatively low miles, so I'd rather stick to by the book and keep it as it was intended!
