B&O

I'm Going to get the b&o system checked in the ST when car is in for first service in July

So been struggling since getting the car to get a happy balance setting that gives you that kick of bass without an overpowering surrounding booming drone of sub bass that feels like a wowing rumbling boom

The sub is also vibrating the rear drivers side lower bumper if I have bass slid up too far

Just cannot find any setting to change that bass booming effect, im playing through usb stick mixture of old and new music

Can get it nice on 80's music then if I play some koven or chicane or anything modern Coldplay the bass then it is overpowering and drones with a constant booming effect.
Also whether it's just my ears but sometimes I think it changes from day to day, I'm guessing that's impossible

Attached pics that are not too bad but not brilliant can't find that happy medium, no surround or adaptive set.
I listen on around volume 15-20

My little fiesta 1.1 mk8 non sub and standard system sounds better with a punchy bass....

Will update when it's been in dealership and then been told all is fine.

I know the car environment isn't great for music but should be able to have some bass thump without the constant drone

Could this be a faulty sub or Amp? Or is it meant to be really heavy drone on sub bass? 🤔

Oops may of posted in wrong action as well, I'm doing well eh 🙈

There is either something wrong or you’re deaf (or will be) listening at volume 15 - 20.
12 is as loud as l go generally 8 - 10 depending upon music or track.
l have posted elsewhere on the forum that l find mine lacking in oomph at lower volumes but someone suggested downloading an app called Poweramp Equalizer which has done the trick.

Avoid the beosonic and surrond sound.
I usually go a bit plus on bass, reduce the mid and leave the treble about middle.
It's probably not faulty, just not very good.
Oh, turn the adaptive speed adjustment off too.

Thanks for the suggestions will have another play, it's just the overpowered sub bass coming through, weirdly if I push up the mids it helps

May see if dealership can reprogram the amp see if that is the issue (if they're able to that is)

If Ford only gave us a crossover control and some sub controls in sync

I've ended up fading forward and seems to dual out the sub more

Definitely is overpowered and sensitive if you dial the bass slider down you lose any decent bass especially in older songs
like above I’ve had to fade forward to help that sub bass humming that hurts the ears

hopefully dealership can help, otherwise it’s a call to an audio specialist again, already used one to get rid of door cards vibrating.

I’m now thinking maybe they only did that due to this Issue🤔

Set beosonic to neutral, then reset the equializer settings all to the middle. This should give you the most natural sound and should hopefully stop the booming effect.

Does it?

If it does and you want more kick, increase the bass slider on the equializer to to the right but try not to push it too far. That should give it more kick, without being too overpowering or boomy.

Hi
Just been out and set it up quick as you said and gave a quick try and so far seems better.
Does the beosonic setting still have an effect on the equaliser then as well 🤔

Will try it over the next couple of days and see how it goes 👍

It was strange today, as I got in the car this morning and the sound had little bass but no boom was weird, I did a key cycle and drove up the road at lunch and still the same, came out of a shop and bass was back again, just wondering if there's a fault somewhere.

Anyway thank you for the help on the settings looking good so far, fingers crossed, excellent 👍 😁

Thanks 😁
What I meant was if I set beosonic to say warm would that then have an effect if I switched to equaliser and tweaked that, making them connected in some way? 🤔

Might be worth still asking dealership to test the system or reset or reprogram it if that's even possible
Had an issue with a router recently and by reflashing the same firmware solved the issue.

Will update how things go over the next couple of days.

Yeah it could be connected I guess but I'm not too sure. I personally tend to turn off any and all extra sound processing and EQs when possible as it usually only serves to make a real mess of the sound.

On mine I actually just keep everything at flat so no EQ and the surround sound option is switched off. I think the bass still kicks when it's needed. (Bear in mind that the newer models might have a different sub as mine is on the boot floor and the newer ones the sub is to the side of the boot).

Fwiw - I think the b&o is a decent system. Mine gets loud with no distortion so decent for the class of car and would likely be better than the likes of the i20n or Yaris GR I suspect.
It could be better though, especially with clarity and I had noted before that even the standard soundsystem in a VW Golf is way more clear and articulate sounding than the fiesta b&o system.

It's worth a shot asking the dealership to test. The ford service department near me is absolutely useless though and would probably say it's ok as long as there is sound coming out the speakers at all.

If it were me, I'd download a sound testing app on my phone and test the speakers at different frequencies. For example to test the bass you could play test tones at bass frequencies of about 50,75, 100 and 150hz.
Try each tone and make sure they are playing cleanly and not going up and down in volume or cutting out.
This might help to make sure there are no serious issues with the bass, for example.

I don't find it flat at all but far too heavy on the subwoofer so some songs with bass guitar or deep bass it rumbles booms through my ears

The recommended settings earlier have helped a lot but still some do it, Coldplay and my favourite group at the moment Haevn
But a big improvement will see if Ford have any updates for the Amp or whether they can reflash it or swap out in July when it goes into service

So as an update, I've had to tweak again as the subbass is still overpowered on some

So I've moved fader back to default and adjusted equaliser as below, getting control over that constant sub reverb now but now getting a nice kick, will play further but something can't be right if I have to slide them that far back and still get some nice kick bass, that doesn't hurt the ears

This does seem strange. With my settings all on neutral, the subwoofer is nicely balanced and not overpowering at all.

Mine is older software and a slightly different sub (2018 models have sub in boot floor) but it should be tuned similarly.

This is maybe a long shot as I'm sure you would have ruled this out already, but is it possible your connected device also has an equaliser or sound processing options switched on? If you use Spotify you can check your equaliser settings in the app, for example. But many mobile phones will also have their own settings. Just make sure everything is switched off or set to neutral to give it the best possible chance of sounding normal.
