Hi All,
I am now in the position to consider having my ST180 remapped to stage 2. I am looking for as much power as can reliably had at this stage. The current hardware I have fitted is:
-ITG induction Kit
- 3 inch Scorpion cat back exhaust (resonated).

I was initially thinking of going with CP2E with actuator, but have come across some previous forum posts mentioning custom mapping (e.g. Sabre tuning). I would consider an actuator if it made a massive difference, and would also like some mild pop and bangs too!

Any recommendations from those that have had stage 2 especially about the benefits of a custom map over generic offerings from Collins, Pumaspeed etc. would be welcomed to help me make a decision.

Thanks Alex. I saw your other thread which got me interested in the custom map. How much did Sabre charge? Also, is my current hardware sufficient or is it necessary to get actuator, sports cat and intercooler? I know CP2E can adapt as hardware as added, I wonder if custom maps allow such a function?

I'm running CP2E with all hardware and using 99 Ron. Can't fault the map. Same can't be said about there customer service.
Could you provide a bit of info on your customer service experience?
I did email Collins two weeks ago to ask for details about the CP2E but they never replied (I assume they are too busy too). For me good customer service is very important.

Thank you all for your detailed replies - they are very helpful.

K17CHY - I feel your pain mate. I dislike garages who treat customers like that - its our hard earned money after all. Pleased you haven't had any issues though, but making me less likely to consider Collins.

Alex & Darran - It's good to know that I do not need a sports cat or actuator. I may just buy an intercooler this week and fit it before booking a remap. Will this stage 2 intercooler from ND tuning be ok or should I go for a bigger one? https://www.nd-tuning.co.uk/ford/16...ord/1691-fiesta-st180-st-fabrications-stage-2-ecoboost-intercooler-upgrade.html

Re: the Pumaspeed 2R - this looks like a reallly good map. I particularly like the other modes they offer like valet mode. I use alot of 'meet and greet' car parks at airports, and the last thing I want is some parking attendant abusing the car.

Hi All,
Hoping to get my ST remapped at the end of this month on a stage 1 tune (235+bhp). It has stage 1 airtec intercooler, along with 3 inch scorpion cat back and ITG filter. The tuner has recommended fitment of a crossover pipe to get maximum benefit from the TRS tune. Is the crossover necessary at this stage or can I tune without it? I could always fit one afterwards I suppose. I know it gives more spooling noise, and possibly better mid-range punch, which is always nice to have.

It'll be fine with stock crossover but I'd get one.

Have you already got an induction hose? (hose in-between your ITG intake and crossover), I always remember this post:

No I don't have the intake hose - all standard. Here is the pic of my engine bay.
I guess I will leave it, as it just means buying an induction hose plus the crossover. I still think the remap will make good power without it, and can always add these in the future if needed.

Good numbers for a "stage 1+"
Mine running cp2e and made 231bhp and 383nm. So technically mine should be classed as a "stage 1+"
Yes, I was very pleased with the performance gains. TRS advertise 230bhp and 360NM torque for this remap, so was very happy that it made a little more. The stages are confusing, one tuners stage 1 is sometimes the same as another's stage 2. The case here is that CP2E will be a generic file, whereas TRS will create a file specifically for each vehicle. Ultimately, what's more important is having the necessary hardware for the remap one wishes to go for.

Another thumbs up for the lads down at H-Sport.

Got to be happy with those numbers, extra 30bhp and that extra torque makes such a difference.

At end of your video you mention you’re happy with stock suspension and thinking of springs, dampers or coilovers, I was happy with stock suspension until I went Eibach Pro-kit Springs, with these you soon realise how crashy the stock setup is. After a few years on Eibach Springs I drove my lads bone stock ST180 back from Wales, that brought it home how limited the stock suspension is (and the stock car is tbh), so crashy but it was the body roll which surprised me.

Just Eibach Pro-Kit springs on themselves is a very good upgrade, they are progressive so best of both worlds, less crashy/more comfortable but much better on the twisties.

I thought about B8 dampers, but for the price of springs and dampers you’re not far off the price of a decent set of coilovers so I went with the later.
Thanks Darran for the insight about the Eibach suspension. It is very helpful indeed, and has helped me make up my mind about getting the Eibach springs fitted very soon. I know there is a discrepancy with part numbers from reading previous threads on this forum, can you remind the correct Eibach Pro Springs part number for my 2014 ST?

I also intend to fit a Whiteline rear ARB and polybush the rear beam bushes too. This should really transform the handling too.

One interesting thing I noted was that when I fitted the Collins rear motor mount on car with stock map, it completely removed the jiggeryness in steering when you go for a quick overtake/hard pull. However, with the remap, the jiggeryness is back again, which suggests the extra power is at the upper tolerance of the motor mount. It doesn't bother me, but was an interesting observation. I suspect an LSD in the future will sort this out.

Eibach Pro-Kit spring part # is: E10-35-020-02-22 (y)

re. the jiggeryness it's probably the front tyres scrabbling for grip mixed with a bit of torque steer, a decent remap definitely make them more of a handful.

You should start a project thread, would be an handy place to publish your videos and for us to follow the journey with the car.
Thanks for the part number Darran.

I will put some time aside to start a project thread very soon!
