Gearbox plate

Hello,

I have recently had my car MOT'd and an advisory on the test was the plate on the side of the gearbox has corroded and is leaking oil. The tester informed me it is a ford only part and I don't really know what I'm looking for, he did say is usually covers 5th gear inside the box but that means nothing to me.

Does anyone know which plate it is and where I can get one?

Or better still a part number I can use to order one from ford?

It is a standard gearbox too on an 06 plate if that makes any difference.

It is the black cover on the end of the gearbox. Best thing is to take it off, clean it up and put it on with some fresh sealant.

Mine is weeping very slightly, doesnt appear to be a gasket so just a sealant must be used.

Its know as an end plate or 5th gear casing or a 5th gear cover... has a few names.

I have sourced a new plate and sealant from ford for a very good price. It was less than £30, time for some fitting.

I would be happy to receive part number as well. Plastic in mine is falling apart and I can not find it anywhere to buy, only included with whole gearbox.

If I remember I'll take a picture tomorrow and upload it here for you to see which plate it is and hopefully have a part number on the sticker too

Mine is weeping on my 1.4 tdci mk6 and i looked at taking it off to reseal but some of the bolts are inaccessible without other stuff off that i couldnt be bothered with. I just top up the gearbox oil every few months as it only loses like 100-200ml over 6 months.
