Hey,

I posted yesterday about a stone chip, but as usual my post has been moved to a section of the forum that requires me to pay to access, so wanted to know if anyone knew where the paint code is on the VIN sticker.

i hope you have better luck than i am having. i have been trying for months dealer said we will get it totally different colour. paint supplier said we can mix it mixed wrong colour then said not on data base yet so if any luck let me no
Well mate, after a lot of digging and looking on the internet, guess what? I have not only found the paint code, but I also have got the paint made up from my local Ford dealer in the accident repair shop.

So my VIN sticker shows BH which is completely wrong, I called the parts department and they said there is no paint code showing. Anyway after looking online, Ive found the correct paint code. So went to my dealers this afternoon, the body shop guy came out and said nope its definitely BH, went in and put into the computer and it was not even a Ford colour. Told him to put in FM and voila it showed as Ford Performance Blue 2018. He offered to make me a pot there and then FOC too so went to Halfords, bought a primer stick and lacquer and will do it tomorrow. I also gave the code to Halfords and youll be able to get it from them as a special order. They dont make it in store.

Let us know how you get on mate and if the paint matches exactly. I've got a tiny scratch on mine (only about 0.5cm on the front wheel arch) and been debating what to do to get rid of it! Would cost ÂŁ90 to get it resprayed from a local smart repairer - the ford garage wanted nearly ÂŁ200! If FM is the correct paint code for the Performance Blue, I'm tempted to ask Halfords to make me up a batch and put it on myself. Or there is the Chipex option, but I've read mixed reviews on it..... :/
I tried it earlier and it's a dead match mate, absolutely spot on. But yes FM is 100% the right code. It shows Ford Performance Blue in two variants (N.American and European) to be honest for the cost of the Chipex i'd go for the Halfords or to your local dealer like I did and see if their body shop will make you some up like mine.

Well I stand corrected. Ive been trawling around on the net using BH to no avail and now I know why. Many thanks Dangerousdriver77 for unearthing the correct code.
Hi Dave,

No worries mate, like I said only stumbled upon it by chance. I found it on a Ford Raptor Forum in the States, then a paint mixing service out there said it also. It was only until i went to Ford and they put it in their computer that confirmed it.

Cannot believe that Ford put the wrong code on the door sill sticker.

Anyway, at least we have it now...

Just to add to the mix, went to my local and very excellent car body repair shop today to have a paint chip on the door sorted. Well he did an excellent job with an exact colour match of 'Performance Blue Indianapolis' , colour code 3CVC --Interesting.
I have seen this code also now, and yes you are right it is the same. But at least we are getting the right paint now lol

Out of interest, was it a smart repair they did, or just a touch up? I've touched mine in, but whilst it looks much better it's still not how i would like it.
