2 of the screws for the mountune airbox have rounded off.

How can i get them out, could i just drill straight through them?

And once they are out does anyone know what size etc they are so i can replace them.

Thanks

Drill the head off then use mole grips on the part thats left after taking the others out. If you drill it out you will need to retap the hole assuming you dont make a mess of it.
Im a bit stupid when it comes to basic things but if i drill the head off how will i get hold of the rest of it as itll either fall out or be stuck in the hole.

If you drill only the head off then when you pull the airbox lid off, the part of the screw that went through the plastic will still be proud of the metal airbox, there should be enough sticking out to get some mole grips on it.

Ah makes sense, thank you.

Any idea what replacement screws i need or are they specific to the mountune airbox.

Well as expected because im a complete retard ive ****ed the whole job up. I now have my airbox held down by 2 screws on the left hand side.

The ones on the right i drilled the head off one, then on the other one i tried to remove it using mole grips on the bottom but ended up nearly getting it out and unable to turn it any more, i cant retighten or loosen any more so now its just stuck.

Im worried now as the airbox lid is only held out by one side, do you think it will be safe or not? If not how best to tighten it down? Looks like im going itg sooner than i was hoping.

Drill them all out and replace with nut and bolts? Can you get to both sides top and bottom easily when its in place?
It took me literally about an hour to drill through one screw, it was ridiculous and i ended up taking half of the plastic mountune lid with it. And i cant drill the whole screw out it would take forever and id end up damaging the thread for the screw on the airbox.

Yeh they are fine.
Can't you:

Take the screws out on left hand side.

Drill out the screw heads on right hand side.

Pull off airbox lid.

With pliers or mole grips screw out the threads on right hand side.

Once they are out put lid back on, with the two good screw fix lid with each screw in diagonal corners.

Drive to screwfix, in car park take out a screw and take it into screwfix.

I basically had the exact same issue a couple of weeks ago but it was only one of the screws, I didn't drill out the head of the screw, I soaked it in WD40 overnight and managed to grip it with a pair of pliers, right pain in the :censored: though..

If/when you sort it, make sure you grease up the screws and heads.

One of the screws head has come off and i havent tried to screw that out out yet but the main problem is one in which i didnt drill the head off.

Problem is i was turning it absolutely fine until the screw was close to coming out of the bottom half of the mountune airbox, now no matter how much i try to grip the screwhead it wont turn any more, ive just put some wd40 on it there hoping it loosens it in the morning but my concern is theres a reason its stopped turning, i.e. screws gone wonky and will now be impossible to remove.

The lid isn't threaded, so if you can get the head off the other bad screw on the right hand side you can take lid off which will give you more of the screws to get a better purchase.

Anyway I'll leave you with it, good luck
