Must be an award for the most ST's owned by one person now? surely :ROFLMAO:
I know Ant had 3 but sold one, is this your third?
Hopefully you keep this one in one piece for a while and get to drive it

Looks like (y)
LOL, yeah this is 3.
1pfl, 1flst150 and this one.
This one has a few small things that need to be done before I can use in London, it has scorpion de cat atm, so will get a Miltek system to comply with ULEZ.
The ultraleggas will go on this one

and I've got a Mountune CIAS to tidy up the engine bay a bit

It just needs some love to clean it up.

Hi Gainn,

Yeah true, and ( some ST500 owners might not like this ) - Its only an ST150 with the right VIN number a few badges and some carbon.

Mine isn't A1 and I don't plan on restoring it to that condition.

Got a few mods planned

Mountune CIAS
MIlteck full system ( inc headers )
Focus 300mm brakes
Oz Superleggas

As far as suspension is concerned got a few choices

Gaz coilovers ( not gold next one down )
B&C Coilovers
Bilstein B8's with eibach lowering springs ( think 30mm)

I'm leaning towards the billsteins atm as I don't want to drill out the turrets on an ST500. - could I fit normal top hats to the B&C's ?

Anyway, hopefully can pick it up tommorrow (y)

Hi All,

Had a little trip to Brighton today to pick up the 500.

I was dreading the drive back ( with the decat ( pop bang etc ) ), I was a bit suprised, on the Mway at a steady 70 it wasn't that bad, bit droney but not terrible.
Then I got back to west london with a bit of stop/start driving and it was truly horrendious - so it has to go.

I picked up the OEM cat from the seller so I'm hoping that it will mate with the Miltek non res backbox I have as a stop gap until I can get a miltek cat

On the whole it drove really well, I know mway driving isn't a great gauge on handling etc but it did what it did.

Its got one silver rear caliper fitted so will need to get a red one sorted out at some point

I'm very happy with it

Not sure whether to put the bonnet strips back on though

1. Congrats
2. Get the oem bonet vinal back on
3. You can still buy the BC V1's that have full damper adjustment, but non adjustable top mounts.
4. I will buy the scorpion decat if it's no good to you? And if it helps you sell the catback, I have the scorpion adapter fitting to mate the 2.5" scorpion catback to the oem ford cat.

Hi All,

As my ST/zetecS collection has expanded and I only have 2 legitimate parking spaces, decided to re purpose the bottom end of my rear garden

Just made the turn in from the side alley (y)

Didn't make 24 hrs before the first "teething trouble" occured, was all set to wash the car and found the n/s electric window wouldn't wind up. (n)

Fuse is ok and o/s works fine, so removed door panel to find

Image

non standard motor.

I've got spare OEM motors, but was suprised that screws holding motor in appear to come out from the regulator side, where as the OEM motor screws go in.
If I remove the regulator, will an OEM motor mate with an aftermarket regulator ?
Is it possible to remove the motor ( without removing the regulator ) - access through the speaker appature ?

Any comments gratefully recieved ( guess what I'm upto tommorrow )
Oh yeah, I did get window up in the end, motor would move window up by about 10mm each time switch pressed if left 5 mins beween each operation.

2nd Issue. Leather door cards - the leather has seperated from the card.
I've replaced the leather section of the card on my zetec S ( as they were cloth covered ) so have no issue grinding off the tabs, removing the card and then building the tabs back up and plastic welding it back together.

My question: Will normal contact spray adhesive be ok to reglue the leather back to the card or is there a better option.

Thx

That's a non ST bonet. The ST bonets have no lagging and a rubber strip that runs along the leading edge of the bonet and sandwiches against the upper grill.
It's also missing the 500 decal and looks like it's potentially been painted before.

Hi All,

Came back down the garden after rinsing the car off to find a box with moutune on the side.

CIAS system, The guy wanted ÂŁ170 for it on ebay ( which I was a bit iffy about - its A1 condition ) very happy

Image

Popped the filter on and drowned the bolts in the front scoop in wd40. I really want to get these screws out whole without having to drill and replace with rivnuts

Yeah, I know the engine bay needs some work.

Hi All,

It came as no suprise that even after drowning the front air scoop screws in penetrating oil, they remained siezed solid.

Drilled heads off screws to remove scoop.

Image

can't get screws to wind out using mole grips, so cut them off, fitted rivnuts and hey presto - mountune CIAS fitted

Gonna carry on cleaning the under bonnet area when it gets a bit cooler

Hi All,

Not had much time this week, but carried on with the clean up, this time in the boot

It was pretty horrible, there had obviously been water ingress at some point as spare wheel retaing screw and jack retaining screw were rusted through

Image

I think this will clean up easily enough, but I was suprised that the spare wheel retainting screw was totally different to most mk6s in that it didnt go through the false boot floor but just held the wheel to the boot floor

Image

Found a replacement on ebay ( Focus mk1)

Image

The other weirdness was the cover for the spare wheel, which in every other mk6 I've had was solid but on this one is foam.

Hi All,

Continued my checking to work out what bits I need to repair/replace

Had another look at the n/s window that appears to have had an aftermarket regulator and motor fitted

Image

I disconnected the loom from the motor and connected an OEM motor to the OEM wiring, everything works fine, so I'm thinking of just buying an OEM regulator and then it will be OEM standard.

whilst I was mucking about with the window, I noticed the leather on the door card had come unglued

Image

I'm hoping to remove the leather insert section, re glue and refit. I have previously changed the cloth zetec s inserts for leather ones so I'm hoping the regluing won't be an issue.

Lastly ( for the time being ) The o/s/r caliper has been changed at some point

Image

ST500 calipers were OEM red, so I want to put it right, but was considering the rear brake upgrade.

Only problem is I can't remember what it is, I know the discs go bigger ( I'm assuming focus ST mk2 ?? ) but can't remember which carriers are required. I'm thinking maybe larger dust sheilds are needed as well ( ot sure )

If anyone knows which bits are required please let me know.

Many thanks

Hi All,

Had a load of bits arrive over the last few days

Stripped the ST170 calipers ready for blasting and did a dry fit, not wanting to get covered in muck I used a spare set of ST150 which appear the same as the ST170 ones.

Dust sheilds arrived but don't fit hubs. so I used a set I bought for the ST150 ( strangly enough they have a focus label on them ) and measure 280mm dia, so I'm hoping they should be ok for the focus discs ( when they arrive )

Image

Havn't fitted the outer hubs as I need to paint them over the weekend.

#29 ·
Hi All,

Rememered I had a pair of built up rear hubs knocking around so had a measure

Image

Theres approx 7mm between disc and dust sheild, so 253 + 14 = 267, so theres no way 280 discs will fit

HELP, what dust sheilds do I need, ordered ST170
Image

thx.

Battery cover arrived, its ok, not worth ÂŁ40 though

Image

May consider fitting the repaired CIAS cover on the 150, smoothing and painting, not sure

Spray bottle with soapy water in, mark out the area first and triple check and a plastic blade with a rounded edge, Nationwide debit cards are great if you don't have a proper squegee as they have the rounded edge and are stiff enough but compliant. (Anyone who has used bodyfiller knows what I mean)

Hi All,

Second set of dust sheilds arrived this morning.
I must admit my heart sank when I unwrapped them as the dia just didn't look big enough to go over the ST170 discs.

But, on fitting it became evident, they are not like the ST150 sheilds which enclose the disc, the disc buts up against them

Image

Obviously they are brand new, but I will paint again before they finally go on.

Hi All,

More dry run rebuilds, wanted to check out how the hubs fitted with rear spacers.

Image

I've got two sets of spacers 10 & 15mm, the 15mm ones came with bolts and guess what, I don't have bolts for the 10mm ones.
The bolts I have are 12.9, can you get high tensile SS Allen Bolts ?

The OZ supperleggas look realy good with the larger discs behind, sun was right behind so couldn't get a decent picture
