Anyone been playing around with this?

Im reaching 6k Revs (waiting for the ST cluster light to appear) and then switching gear with the accelerator still pressed.

My concern is that it over revs sometimes... is this operator error or is this meant to happen?

Jup same here, only tried it twice and never since. Feels too wrong doing this, honestly makes me wonder if this system is even installed, sure feels like it isn't.
Totally agree, I feel like I'm stealing icecream off a newborn whilst "taking advantage" of this feature... I'm left with a dirty feeling as I haul ass past Margaret in her Berlingo.

Maybe I don't fully understand what this is but I don't get how it's actually a feature of the car. I assume you can do it smoothly if you're driving flat out and near redline and shift very quickly otherwise the revs will shoot up. But then you can do that anyway, I have done it in my mk6 from 3rd to 4th at about 80mph and 7,000 rpm, quick dab of the clutch and a quick shift without lifting.

I saw one of the motoring journalists do it at about 3,000 rpm and it just ended up looking like he didn't know how to drive a manual.

Its a feature where you can change gear without taking your foot off the accelerator, the vehicle is meant to prevent overreving and to give a smooth transition. But after a few attempts, it seems unnatural to perform.

Exactly, the way I see it the car should cut power pretty much the second your foot touches the clutch.

Isn't that the entire idea of a system like this? That the computer is waaay faster at cutting/applying power than we are?

I don't see why this was added to the Mk8 other than it being a gimmick.

The flywheel is so heavy due to it being a 3 pot that it carries enough inertia for you to rev up, come off throttle, depress clutch, make a cup of tea, drink said cup of tea, wash up said cup, change gear, and reapply clutch and the revs will only have dropped a couple hundred RPM anyway

Agreed on the gimmick, however luckily it's not that bad! (well when coming from a 2 liter diesel anyway)
