As mentioned earlier colour is a strange thing, there is probably no mismatch you just perceive there is. if the bumpers to bodywork where contiguous with no visible join in them you would probably not be able to see any colour change, but even a couple of mm along with the natural direction change makes it seem to the eye to be a different colour.
If you don't believe me have a look at this optical illusion that kinda shows what I mean...

Even though the blocks are the same colour your brain is telling you the top block is darker only when you remove visual stimulus by covering the centre 10mm of screen do you see that they are the same... The brain is an amazing thing capable of even turning the upside down image we actually see though our eyes and converting it to the right way round in our brain, as well as maintaining a white balance better that the best cameras available all without us even thinking about it..... but it is fallible.....
