Anyone driven a Quaife/MFactory and WaveTrac back to back

I'm leaning towards the Wavetrac for track use (it can still lock when unloaded), but interested to know about how other characteristics between the differentials differ?

Only run the MFactory and for road use with 320bhp its fantastic.
Yeah, were I just going for road use, i'd go Mfactory. But, I use my car on track relatively regularly and the Wavetrac has the advantage of being able to lock when load/traction is missing from one wheel. In the same scenario for Mfactory/Quaife, they essentially become an open diff.

I would say this scenario generally occurs when riding the rumble kerbs on track and the inside wheel may be skipping and losing traction.

I understand, I considered a wavetrak but my needs were opposite.

All I can say is any LSD is a great investment in these cars.

Nothing, that you can see or feel.

The prices may be more alike if it wasnt for Mountune having exclusive distribution rights on the quaife.
Nothing really... other than the ÂŁ200 Quaife/Mountune tax :s
Cheers, to be honest that's what I thought.

On whim I bought the Quaife from MT when they had 25% off but returned it, regretting it now though.

If you are going to do hardcore track day use then you want one that's more aggressive.

The Quaife style is good, but not a hardcore track product.

To give you an example my mk6 ST race car has a KAAZ plated diff and we broke the gearbox in quali, so had to put the spare gearbox in with a quaife.

We were a good second per lap slower around Brands Hatch.

If you just want to have fun, do some track time and use the car on the road then the Quaife is fine, but personally out of the two mentioned I'd go for the wavetrac.

If you are looking at timing then you want something more aggressive. But I really wouldn't want to run that on the road.

Thanks @Fox, a good summary.

I'm not timing and looking for every tenth, but I enjoy going out to push hard on circuit which is why the Wavetrac seems to fit the bill. All the advantages of a fit and forget Helical product, but it can still lock without load.

I did look at the Kaaz which is cheaper, but i'm not sure I want to be in a position where I need to rebuild it, nor do I need anything that extreme. Interesting to see that Cusco are doing a Fiesta ST diff for like ÂŁ1.7k!!!! Not seen anyone running that yet.

Thanks for your input :)
